JIM WISWELL Inducted 1997

Jim Wiswell (pictured left, above) was one of the sport's most overpowering forwards during a short but successful career that began in Minnesota in the middle 1970s. Jim played in a remarkable 29 open finals during the years 1977-80, winning nineteen times, including victories at the $250,000 World Championships in 1979 in open doubles, and 1980 in the mixed doubles event. "Wiz" and his steady partner Doug Furry claimed the first-ever Super Doubles title in 1978. Wiswell, who passed away in 1981, possessed one of the fastest, most powerful pull shots in the history of the sport, making him a very intimidating opponent.
